Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation Announces New Leadership 

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – (xx xx, 2024) – The Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation is honored to announce two new appointments to its top leadership positions. Misti Smith Stanton, Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Mercantile Bank, will assume the role of board president. She previously served as the board’s vice president, a role that will be taken on by Monica Steimle App, Senior Vice President, Rockford Construction. 

Both women have served on the GRPS Foundation Board since 2019, underscoring their dedication to the children of the Grand Rapids Public Schools community. 

“I am honored to lead the GRPS Foundation Board. As a proud Grand Rapids native, GRPS graduate and former GRPS employee, I feel uniquely positioned to have an impact in this role,” said Stanton. “I am looking forward to our work in partnering with the GRPS to help ensure that GRPS students receive the best education and opportunities that our community can provide.” 

The Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation executive committee also includes Treasurer Gretchen Mousel, Secretary Amy Turner Thole, Immediate Past President Brendan Geary and Dr. Peter Knoester.
